GM to Close 2 Plants for a Week

GM will close two factories for a week to keep inventory numbers down since demand has fallen. The Detroit-Hamtramck plant will be closed Nov. 24 for a week. The factory employs 1,785 and makes the Buick Lucerne and Cadillac DTS sedans. A factory in Bowling Green, Ky., that makes Chevrolet Corvettes and the Cadillac XLR will be idled the week of Dec. 1. That plant employs about 900 workers. Times are tough for automotive workers.
