GM to close Grand Rapids Plant

GM officials announced Monday that it has informed its 1,520 Grand Rapids stamping employees that it plans to end production and close the plant in December 2009. The plant is known for making more than 40% of the parts for large pickups and SUVs. Since GM sales of these vehicles are slumping, so is the demand for parts. Thus the reason for the plant closing.
